Stage 0 Colon Cancer Treatment Treatment for colon cancer stage 0 ( carcinoma in situ) may include the following types of surgery : · Local excision , which is surgery to remove the colon cancer without cutting through the abdominal wall. · A polyp , which is surgery to remove the tissue sample of large bowel cancer . · The resection / anastomotic is a surgical procedure that removes colon cancer by taking a section of colon , and re-attach the ends of the colon.  This procedure is performed when the cancerous tissue is too large to eliminate local excision . Treatment for colon cancer stage I Processing stage colon cancer resection I usually / anastomotic (removal of colon cancer by joining the ends of the colon) because of cancerous tissue is usually too large to be removed by this time local excision .
